Foreign Workers in Canada

Canadian work permit allows you to work in Canada for a specific employer (employer-based work permit) or any employer (open-ended work permit). As a foreign national, you need a work permit before working in Canada, with some exceptions.

Work Permit Requirements

To obtain a Canadian work permit, you must meet specific requirements. These requirements may vary depending on the location you are applying for and the type of work permit you are applying for. Despite these various factors, the following requirements must be met to obtain a work permit: • A Job offer from a canadian Employer (LMIA supported or LMIA Exempt). Prove that you can financially support yourself and your family while in Canada • Prove that you will leave Canada after the work permit expires • You do not intend to work for an non-compliant employer • No criminal record • Be in good shape.

Post Study Open Work Permit :

The studtents who have completed their education in a Public College in Canada are eligible to apply for a Post Graduate work Permit. The duration of the PGWP depends on the duration of the education. If you have completed 1 year of academic studies, you will be eligible for 1 year of PGWP. If you have completed 2 years of academic studies you will be eligible for 3 years of PGWP. The PGWP can be applied or claimed only once in your lifetime. Spouses of students are also eligible for Spousal open work permit when their spouse is studying and also when the spouse starts to work on PGWP.
